OSC announces new members of the Investor Advisory Panel

For Immediate Release OSC

TORONTO - The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) today announced two new members of its independent Investor Advisory Panel (IAP).

The IAP advises and comments on proposed rules, policies and investor protection initiatives, while considering the views of a broad range of investors through consultation with investors and organizations representing investors.

The new members have been appointed for two-year terms effective March 1, 2020. The new IAP members are:

Serge Kalloghlian: Mr. Kalloghlian has been a lawyer for over 10 years, with a litigation practice focusing on class actions and investor rights advocacy. He has represented harmed investors in securities class actions and other investor rights litigation at all levels of Ontario’s courts and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Leslie Wood: Ms. Wood is a Charted Professional Accountant and former senior executive in the investment fund industry bringing over 25 years of experience. She has successfully completed several mutual fund acquisitions, product re-engineering, systems integration and conversions, brand and distribution development, and oversight of all back-office operations and new product launches. Ms. Wood retired in 2016 and now serves on multiple Independent Review Committees.

The OSC would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing IAP members Larry Bates and Paul Bates for their valuable contributions. Both joined the IAP in 2017 and served a two-year term.

The IAP is an important voice for investors in the regulatory process, and new members were selected to ensure that the IAP continues to represent a broad range of relevant experience, skills, knowledge and perspectives.

Full biographical information on all IAP members, along with details on IAP meetings and other activity, is available in the Investor Advisory Panel section of the OSC website.

The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk.  Investors are urged to check the registration of any persons or company offering an investment opportunity and to review the OSC investor materials available at www.osc.ca.
