David C. Campbell and Carlos A. Da Silva Sentenced for Breaching a Commission Cease Trade Order and Unregistered Trading

For Immediate Release OSC Enforcement Before the Court

TORONTO – The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) announced today that David C. Campbell and Carlos A. Da Silva were each sentenced to three months in jail, followed by 18 months of probation by Justice Duncan at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, Ontario, following convictions under the Securities Act (Ontario).

The terms of probation also require Campbell and Da Silva to each perform 125 hours of community service.

Campbell and Da Silva were convicted of breaching a permanent cease trade order issued by the OSC on December 10, 2008, contrary to s. 122(1)(c) of the Securities Act. The conviction is in relation to their trading in shares of Equity Capital Management. Campbell and Da Silva were also convicted of unregistered trading, contrary to s. 25(1) of the Securities Act, in relation to their trading in these shares.

Additionally, Campbell was convicted of breaching a permanent cease trade order, contrary to s. 122(1)(c) of the Securities Act, by trading in securities of Ameron Oil and Gas Ltd.

The OSC’s Joint Serious Offences Team (JSOT) assumed carriage of this matter following its establishment in 2013.
