TORONTO – The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is cautioning Ontario investors about solicitations made by Stratus Financial Group International. The company is not registered to sell securities or commodity futures contracts in Ontario.
The company and its representatives have solicited at least one Ontario resident by telephone to invest in natural gas futures.
On November 4, 2014, the Nova Scotia Securities Commission issued a similar warning after some of its residents were contacted by Stratus. The Government of New Brunswick, Financial and Consumer Services Commission has also issued a warning in respect of Stratus.
The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper and fraudulent practices and to foster fair and efficient capital markets and confidence in capital markets. Investors are urged to check the registration of any person or company offering an investment opportunity and to review the OSC’s investor materials available at www.osc.ca.
