About the OSC
Office of Domestic & International Affairs
The Office of Domestic & International Affairs (ODIA) provides advice and support to the OSC in its dealings with other regulators and governments, both in Canada and internationally. ODIA staff support the OSC’s efforts to promote coordination and co-operation among securities regulators.
The ODIA facilitates the development of policy initiatives between the OSC and other regulators across Canada. For example, staff provide support for the OSC’s involvement in projects of the Canadian Securities Administrators and the Joint Forum of Financial Market Regulators.
ODIA staff co-ordinate the OSC’s participation in international activities and committees and maintain relationships on behalf of the OSC with a number of international regulators and organizations. These include the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) and the Council of Securities Regulators of the Americas (COSRA).
The ODIA also advises the OSC about relations with governments. It facilitates the exchange of information and communication between the OSC and government, and also monitors government policies and priorities that may impact the OSC.
The OSC works to harmonize, streamline and modernize securities laws in Canada. Furthermore, the OSC contributes to the development of international best practices in securities regulation, which can benefit Ontario’s markets. The ODIA plays an important role in advancing the OSC’s priorities within the global regulatory system.
