Joint Forum of Financial Market Regulators
The Joint Forum of Financial Market Regulators was founded in 1999 by the Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators, the CSA, and the Canadian Association of Pension Supervisory Authorities. The Joint Forum also includes representation from the Canadian Insurance Services Regulatory Organizations.
The Joint Forum was established to enable pension, securities and insurance regulators to work together to co-ordinate, harmonize and streamline the regulation of financial products and services in Canada.
A recent example of the Joint Forum’s work is the development of Framework 81-406: Point of sale disclosure for mutual funds and segregated funds, published in October, 2008. The proposed new “Fund Facts” disclosure document is meant to provide investors with meaningful information about a mutual fund or segregated fund before they make a decision to invest.
